Searches for Provost, Deans and Chief People Officer
Dear Pacific faculty and staff,
I wanted to give you a brief update on our various executive searches.
The search committee working on finding the next dean of the College of the Pacific is making great progress. The search team, co-chaired by Vice President Chris Ferguson and Professor Sharmila King, interviewed 11 candidates by Zoom this week and plans to bring in candidates for campus interviews shortly. Visiting schedules will be available next week.
Meantime, I’m delighted to tell you that we have secured a superb Chief People Officer. We will announce our new HR leader next week in a separate email. We also will be putting together a search committee shortly for dean of the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy.
Importantly, I am delighted to send to you the prospectus for our Provost and Executive Vice President. Please use your individual professional networks to help us spread the word on this critically important position. We will spend the next six weeks soliciting Provost candidates before the search committee, which will be chaired by Vice President Maria Blandizzi and Past Academic Council Chair PaulSubar, gathers in September to select candidates for the first round of interviews.
Searches that result in the successful recruitment of top-quality leaders are time-consuming, but enormously important as we continue to place Pacific on a sharp trajectory upward. I want to thank everyone who has served–or is serving–on these various committees, and to all of you for helping us get the word out to attract the best and brightest to our great university.
Sincerely,
Christopher Callahan
President
